Footpaths, Bridleways and Cycle routes are all around and this is a great base for exploring the western end of the South Downs way.
The market town of Petersfield is also nearby with Midhurst and Chichester a little further afield.
South Harting is a picturesque village with a well-supported local pub, the White Hart which offers bar meals, a restaurant and beer garden. There is a little village shop with some local produce, a coffee shop, a lifestyle shop and a Post Office counter as well as Anglican and Methodist Churches.
The coast at Emsworth is only eleven miles away with Bracklesham, East and West Wittering beaches a little further away.
Goodwood can be found approximately twenty-five minutes drive away. There is horse racing on individual race days and Glorious Goodwood which is a racing festival usually held at the beginning of August. The Motor Racing Circuit hosts classic car events and aviation events are held at the Aerodrome; most notably The Revival, a vintage event usually held in September. Goodwood House, seat of the Earl of Richmond, hosts the Festival of Speed event usually held in July.
Cowdray Park Polo Club is based in Midhurst overlooking the historic ruins. The Gold Cup is the premier polo tournament at 22 (High Goal) level. It attracts the top players and teams from all over the world during the summer season and the World Cup is usually held in July.
Petworth House can be found to the east of Midhurst, along the A272. It is a seventeenth century Grade I National Trust stately home with a seven-hundred acre parkland and fallow deer park. The town of Petworth is known for antique and fine art shops as well as small, independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.
Other National Trust properties found nearby are: Uppark in South Harting and Hinton Ampner on the A272 Winchester road.
Farmers’ markets are held in Petesfield, Winchester, Chichester and a steam railway, the Watercress Line can be found in the market town of Arlesford.
